Loosely translated from Latin, Soroptimist means "best for women." For us, that's not just a name — it's a promise we keep in Clovis every day.

Two signature programs make sure women and girls have the education and training they need to thrive.
Cash grants for women who are the primary financial support for their families, helping them offset the costs of tuition, books, childcare, and transportation as they pursue the education to improve their earning potential.

In 1921, eighty women in Oakland built the first Soroptimist club — because they wanted to serve, and the men's service clubs wouldn't let them in.
More than a century later, that spirit is alive in Clovis. We're a chapter of Soroptimist International of the Americas — a global volunteer organization providing women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.
We meet, we fundraise, we mentor, and we show up for our community — turning friendship and purpose into real opportunities for the women and girls of the Central Valley.
